Winnipeg is a city with lots to offer, each month i will highlight a different part of the city, showcasing some of my favorite spots!

Corydon: Winnipeg’s Summer Playground

When the snow melts and Winnipeg finally thaws out, Corydon Avenue wakes up in the best way. Often called "Little Italy," this neighbourhood transforms into a lively stretch of open patios, live music, and incredible food from all corners of the globe. It’s the perfect spot to grab a drink, take a stroll, and soak up that long-awaited sunshine. If you love culture, carbs, and people-watching with a side of sunshine, this walkable stretch is your summer happy place.

 Corydon 101

  • Corydon isn't just a street; it's an experience. What started as Winnipeg’s Little Italy has grown into a vibrant, multicultural hub full of great shops, local restaurants, and places to catch some live music or just linger over a good coffee. With its leafy sidewalks and character homes, it’s easy on the eyes—and with something always happening, it’s never boring. Whether you’ve lived here for years or you’re just discovering it, Corydon blends old charm with fresh energy in a way that feels effortless.

  • People-Watching & Patios: Grab a gelato or a cappuccino and settle into one of the many patios lining the avenue. It's the perfect vantage point to soak in the neighbourhood's eclectic vibe.

Boutique Shopping: Explore unique shops offering everything from vintage fashion to handcrafted goods. Local favourites include Radiance Gifts, Valencia Boutique, The Stoneware Gallery, and A Little Art Boutique.

Live Music & Events: Summer weekends often feature live performances, turning the streets into open-air concert venues. Keep an eye out for spontaneous jazz sessions or cultural festivals that celebrate the area's diverse roots.

  • Kristina's on Corydon
Modern Greek food done right. From zesty saganaki to perfectly grilled lamb chops, Kristina’s delivers all the Mediterranean flavour you crave. A long-time staple on the strip, it’s cozy, classic, and always satisfying.

    The Roost
Tucked above street level, this tiny rooftop gem is known for its creative cocktails and beautifully plated small bites. It’s the kind of place you go for one drink... and somehow end up staying all night. Ideal for date nights or catching up with friends who appreciate good lighting and better food.

    Saperavi
This Georgian spot is a rare find, not just in Winnipeg, but in all of Canada. Think warm, cheesy khachapuri, savoury stews, and bold spices served in a relaxed, welcoming space. It’s hearty, flavourful, and a total standout on the Corydon dining scene.

    Confusion Corner Drinks & Food
Yes, the intersection’s wild, but the food? Solid. With a wide-ranging menu, laid-back vibe, and a name that always starts a conversation, Confusion Corner is a go-to for everything from casual lunches to late-night hangs.

    Bar Italia
A true Corydon classic. Bar Italia has been serving up strong coffee and stronger conversations for decades. Whether you’re stopping by for a morning espresso or grabbing a table on the patio for happy hour, it’s the kind of spot that feels like part of the neighbourhood’s DNA.

    Eva’s Gelato & Coffee Bar
Summer isn’t official until you’ve had a scoop from Eva’s. Their small-batch gelato is made with real ingredients and big flavour, like dulce de leche, espresso, or fresh fruit sorbets. Grab a cone and stroll the avenue like a local.

  • Corydon Community Centre: Beyond the bustling avenue, the community centre offers recreational programs and events that foster local engagement and wellness.

Cultural Diversity: While its roots are Italian, Corydon has embraced a mosaic of cultures, reflected in its array of international cuisines, festivals, and community events.

Walkability: With its compact layout and pedestrian-friendly design, Corydon is perfect for leisurely walks, allowing you to explore its many charms at your own pace.
